Thank you to TD Friends of the Environment Foundation
Friends of Second Marsh would like to extend a thank you to TD Friends of the Environment Foundation for their financial support of our annual Boardwalk Trail Project at the Second Marsh Wildlife Area. The funds were used to purchase materials needed for the boardwalk construction: lumber and nails. On Saturday October 17, with the help of EDS and Friends of Second Marsh volunteers, we constructed 74 feet of new boardwalk and replaced 167 damaged planks on our existing boardwalk.

We would like to thank TD Canada Trust for their generous donation of $5000 to Friends of Second Marsh. The gift was in celebration of the opening of TD’s new branch at Simcoe Street and Conlin Road in Oshawa, Ontario. It is especially fitting to receive this donation from an organization that has shown such a sustained commitment to the environment. TD Friends of the Environment Foundation and TD events such as their shoreline clean up days continue to contribute to a healthy community.

We would like to thank the City of Oshawa for its generous contribution of $40,000 as part of the municipality’s 2009 Partnership Grant program. Oshawa has been recognized as one of the world’s most liveable communities for a city of its size. A significant part of that recognition is a result of the city’s substantial efforts to provide its citizens with a healthy, vibrant environment that includes natural areas like Second Marsh. We are proud to partner with Oshawa in these efforts.
